The Science Behind Hypnotherapy
Most people come to hypnotherapy after everything else has helped — but not enough. If you're sceptical, good. So was I. Here's what the evidence actually says, and what you can realistically expect.
How does hypnotherapy work?In hypnosis, the critical mind is temporarily bypassed, making the subconscious more accessible. This makes it possible to rewrite negative beliefs and habits and to anchor positive changes. For hypnotherapists, this offers a unique opportunity to guide profound transformations.
What is the power of the subconscious mind? Our subconscious mind is responsible for 95% of our behavior, feelings and decisions. Hypnotherapy makes it possible to change habits or solve problems.
Are most people hypnotizable?
Almost everyone is highly hypnotizable. A basic ability to concentrate is a prerequisite. The client must also be willing to cooperate voluntarily. This means that he or she wants to enter hypnosis, trusts me, and is willing to follow my instructions during the sessions. The client needs to be able to temporarily set aside conscious awareness — hypnosis itself naturally supports this process. People who can become fully absorbed in a film or a book often have an advantage.
Of course, as with physicians and coaches, hypnotherapists cannot guarantee improvement.
The core of the approach is achieving hypnosis quickly and deeply. The deeper you are in trance, the more readily you will follow the suggestions that were jointly agreed upon during the initial consultation. It is a truly fascinating process.
How is hypnotherapy used in top sports?More and more top athletes are using hypnosis to improve their mental focus, confidence and performance. By training the subconsious mind, athletes can let go of limiting beliefs, overcome fears and focus fully on their goals.
Is hypnotherapy a scientifically proven method? Scientific research supports the effectiveness of hypnotherapy in reducing stress, anxiety, pain perception, and emotional distress.
Systematic reviews and randomized controlled trials — across diverse clinical settings — show measurable benefits compared with standard care or control conditions.
Is it important to be accredited as a hypnotherapist?Accreditation matters. It ensures that a hypnotherapist meets professional standards of training, ethics, and practice.
OMNI was the first hypnosis institute globally to achieve ISO 9001 certification for both its training programs and hypnotherapy services, demonstrating compliance with international quality standards.
OMNI’s techniques are rooted in the teachings of Dave Elman and are supported by a trusted worldwide network of certified practitioners.
